The Mazda Demo has inductive/analogue wheel speed sensors. This was concluded by a visual check, there was a toothed ring gear and a magnetic pick-up with two wires coming out of it.
Air gap for each wheel sensor.
Front Right Air gap 0.711mm - good condition no debris on sensor.
Front Left Air gap 0.550mm - good condition no debris on sensor.
Could not get to the rear wheel speed sensors on this vehicle.
Record the wheel speed sensor pattern on a oscilloscope.
This is an analogue pattern.
Frequency scale on multi-meter = 72.39Hz
Using a Scan Tool :
Go to the ABS live data screen and note all the sensors, data and what it is telling you.
1. ABS valve relay off
2. ABS warning lamp off
3. Batt. voltage 12.49
4. Brake switch off
5. Brake warning lamp state on
6. 4f ABS in valve off
7. RR ABS out valve
8. Hydrulic pump motor off
9. Brake switch in off
10. LF wheel speed sensor 0 Kph
Using the scan tool go to the actuator test screen. Test a component and note what happened when you tested it.
I did this test on my car a Nissan Avenir, this has four three stage solenoids which there positions are...1: KEEP 2: DOWN and 3: UP
We could hear the solenoids click when they were actuated and when we turned ignition on you could hear the relay click and the ABS motor cycling this was the self ABS self test.
